Twas the morning of
Christmas
And all through the
house
Came a strange set
of noises
But it wasn't a mouse
It was Freddy the Ferret
And his one-eyed friend,
Ed
Who had just made
their way
Up the side of my
bed
With a lick to my nose
And a bite to my chin
I knew that Christmas
morning
Was about to begin
On Teddy, on Eddy,
On Andy and Freddy!
From the look in their
eyes
They were certainly
ready
They dashed to the
tree
What joy they would
find
Wow, Santa this year
Had been certainly
kind!
A downsized Jaguar
With a leather dash
board!
Oodles of toys
To add to their hoard!
A mini Playstation
A raisin-making machine!
Surely this all
Had to be but a dream!
Stuffed mice for the
kitties
Eddy carried them
over
But what about Tyler?
Our poor old sick
rover?
Andy dug through the
pile
Of ribbon and bows
Then something glimmered
Infront of his nose
It was a beautiful
package
All glistening and
bright
The tag read "To Tyler"
And it shone with
a light
Tyler was too weak
To open his gift
So Teddy and Freddy
Gave the box lid a
lift
The card inside read
"I've loved you the
best.
You've been such a
good dog.
You can lay down now,
please rest."
Andy and Eddy crawled
Inside for the gift
With Tuffy cat underneath
it
To give it a lift.
It was beautiful wings
All silken and gleaming
The pets looked at
Tyler
Whose face was just
beaming
Gone was the cancer
He was young - his
eyes bright
And he pulled the
other pets towards him
And held his friends
tight
"But we don't want
you to go"
Cried Andy and Eddy
Tyler said "It's ok,
boys,
It's my time, I'm
ready."
"Then I'll go with
you"
Andy clung to his
friend
"No, son, mom needs
you.
We will meet in the
end."
"We'll all be together
Every day will be
fun
We'll romp and we'll
play
There will always
be sun."
Tyler put on the wings
and
They glowed like with
a light
That could only be
heaven
Such beauty and might
He gave a last bark
Then faded from view
But he'll never fade
from memory
His love was too true
