Hi I'm Laura, aka "Canuckie"
from a high school nickname.
Born in Canada and
raised in Boston and South Florida,
Hope to get back to
BC someday soon cuz
Florida's too flat,
too hot and (sigh) I miss MOUNTAINS!
We moved to The States
when my brother and I were little and grew up sailing Cape Cod.
That's my brother
John with me in the pics (were we cute or WHAT?)
Pic on the right is
in Newport during the America's Cup 1970
We moved to Florida
in 1978 and I've lived there ever since.
5/10/03 - it finally
happened - we're heading North!
Bye bye, Florida,
I'm moving to Seattle on May 29th!
We stayed at The
Edgewater our first couple nights in town - dog, cats, ferrets
and all!
They definitely
gave us a warm welcome to Seattle!
10/29/03 - five months
in Seattle and LOVE it here. The mountains are
AMAZING and the people
SO damn nice. Local music scene is unreal and
I'm getting ready
to get back out there myself. Working on some new
material and looking
for bandmates!

All grown
up and now having to pay for the highlights that came naturally as a kid!
I've played guitar
since I was 10. I didn't even attempt to sing a note during all those
years
till a night out with
a friend and a couple shots of Cuervo.
Next thing you know
I was a karaoke queen hosting shows in Fort Lauderdale
and Miami Beach.
It was fun and paid well but so tacky!
I started going
to see more local bands and soon I was fronting
both a country (forgive
me?) and a punk band.
My guitars include
an Ibanez Artcore AF75, a Gibson Gospel acoustic w/pre-amp
and a midnight wine
Fender Strat. I also recently picked up an OLP bass.

After all my years of "dashboard
drumming" I started
lessons at Don
Bennett's Drum Studio
in Oct 2003 with
the drummer from Point
1 - an amazing band in Seattle.
I'm ready to play
out again and hopefully will be part of
the Seattle music
scene very soon!
Ironically
a couple days after that "cute" picture of Oliver Ferret checking out my
Gibson he
knocked
it over and it SNAPPED right at the headstock :((!!!
But
$340 later and the fine craftmanship of the best guitar repair dude EVER
it looks
and plays like new. Oh and no, I didn't make Oliver into slippers
heh
Meanwhile
Ringo LOVES going inside the bass drum! Such music fans!
Coming soon.. .forming a new band in Seattle!
